After considered deliberation, The Dallas Beacon has decided to publish the cypher in full and the letter in part; we are withholding the more graphic details out of respect for the victims and their families. The Beacon hopes readers may find a clue in the cypher that could lead to more information about the alleged killer.
Before deciding to publish, The Dallas Beacon consulted the Dallas Police Department. The consultation was not productive.
“There is no black, transvestite serial killer,” said Det. George Parry. “Everybody just needs to…calm down. This is some guy in a basement tying to say he’s the mastermind behind four random, non-criminal deaths.”
When The Dallas Beacon pointed out the similar profile of the victims and their decapitations, Det. Parry denied any such connection.
“Let’s take it from the top,” said Det. Parry. “Victim 1—and be sure to note that I’m using quotes here—was found on the side of a highway, so that could have been a car accident. Victim 2’s head was only partially decapitated, with the knife still jammed in there. So we’re putting that down as a suicide. Victim 3 wasn’t even Black. She or he or whatever was mixed-race. There goes your Black profile theory. And I wouldn’t even call Victim 4 a transvestite, he was just some guy wearing a dress and wig. We think that was probably a fraternity haze that got out of hand.”
